First Steps

Open RTSBuilding

Press G in game by default to open RTSBuilding and enter the overhead building view.

Press G again or press Esc to close the RTS interface.

Interface Layout

RTSBuilding has three main UI areas:

  • Top bar: switches modes such as interact, storage binding, funnel, and rotate, and opens Quick Build, Range Hiding, settings, and tutorials.
  • Bottom bar: shows storage contents, lets you select blocks and tools, manages blueprints, opens remote crafting, and opens plugin management.
  • Side floating window: appears when you open a chest or machine screen, and helps move container items into RTS storage.

First Use

If the server does not enable survival balancing, start by linking a chest as RTS storage.

  1. Open RTSBuilding.
  2. Click the storage binding button on the top bar.
  3. Aim at a chest in the world.
  4. Left-click the chest.
  5. Confirm that the top hint says storage was linked.
  6. Confirm that the bottom bar shows the chest contents.

After linking storage, left-click a block in the bottom bar to select it as the current placement item. Aim at the target position and right-click to place it remotely.

  • To place roads, walls, or boxes, read Quick Build.
  • To clear a large area or chain-destroy trees, use Range Destroy in the Quick Build panel.
  • To hide roofs, walls, or floors while building from above, read Range Hiding.
  • To manage linked chests, machines, and extract-only targets, read Storage Binding in Modes and Buttons.
  • To pin frequently used materials and tools, read Storage Space.

Survival Balancing

If a button is missing, the server may have survival balancing enabled. The current system uses RTS plugins to decide which features are available.

Open your inventory and click the RTS button at the top of the screen, or click Plugins in the RTS bottom bar, then install plugins from your inventory. Installed plugins decide which RTS features you can use.

With only the RTS Control Core installed, you can enter RTS view, use basic interaction, and get a 16-block base action radius. Remote placement, remote mining, storage integration, blueprints, Range Destroy, and Range Hiding require their own plugins.

Survival balancing also uses RTS Home. Open your inventory, click RTS Home at the top of the screen, and set your home position. RTSBuilding uses that home as the center of the allowed RTS range.

See RTS Plugins and Survival Balance and RTS Home and Range for details.

Tutorials and Hints

Click the i buttons in the interface to open the relevant tutorial.

The top hint text shows the current mode and next required action, such as selected item, linked storage state, waiting for Quick Build point A/B, or waiting for Range Destroy confirmation.
