Modes and Buttons

The top bar changes how RTSBuilding handles world clicks. The most important controls are the mode buttons on the left: the selected mode decides what your next world click does.

Interact

Interact is the default mode and behaves closest to normal Minecraft play.

In Interact mode:

  • Right-click first tries to use blocks, machines, chests, or doors.
  • If there is no usable interaction, right-click tries to place the currently selected item.
  • Holding Shift while right-clicking reverses that priority: placement is tried first, then interaction.
  • Left-click mines blocks.

You can also aim at a world block and press the Pick Block key, middle mouse by default, to select that block as the next placement item.

Storage Binding

Storage Binding tells RTSBuilding where it may take materials from and where it may store items back.

Basic use:

  1. Click the storage binding button on the top bar.
  2. Aim at a chest, barrel, drawer, storage controller, or other storage block.
  3. Left-click it to link it as normal RTS storage.
  4. Confirm that the top hint shows the linked storage name.

Right-click can also bind storage, but a right-click link is extract-only. Use this when RTSBuilding should take items from that target but should not store items back into it.

Hover the storage binding button and click View Linked Storage to open the linked storage details window.

That window can view and manage every linked block:

  • Block name and position: identifies the target.
  • Priority: changes the order used when several storages are available. 0 is fine for normal use. Higher numbers are tried earlier for inserting; lower numbers are tried earlier for extracting.
  • Extract: Yes means extract-only, so RTSBuilding will not store items into that target. No means both insert and extract are allowed.
  • Unlink: removes that storage link.

If many storages are linked, the details window can scroll through all rows.

While Storage Binding mode is active, normal right-click interaction is temporarily disabled.

Funnel

Funnel mode collects dropped item entities from the RTS view. Move the cursor near dropped items, and the funnel pulls nearby drops into linked RTS storage.

Basic use:

  1. Link a storage target that can accept items.
  2. Click the funnel button on the top bar, or hold the quick funnel hotkey.
  3. Move the RTS cursor near dropped items on the ground.
  4. The drops are pulled into RTS storage.

The default quick funnel hotkey is F. Hold F for temporary funnel mode, then release it to return to the previous mode.

Rotate

Rotate mode changes block facing from the overhead view.

Basic use:

  1. Click the rotate button on the top bar.
  2. Aim at the block to rotate.
  3. Right-click the block.

Use it for stairs, machines, and other rotatable blocks.

Quick Build

Quick Build opens the batch operation panel. It contains Range Build and Range Destroy. Range Build places groups of blocks; Range Destroy removes blocks by shape or connected-block rules.

See Quick Build for step-by-step instructions.

Range Hiding

Range Hiding opens a compact window for creating, selecting, and resizing hidden block regions.

Use it to temporarily hide roofs, walls, or floors so the yellow selection outline and right-click ray pass through them and hit blocks inside.

See Range Hiding for step-by-step instructions.

Chunk Display

The chunk display button shows or hides chunk boundaries.

Use it when planning farms, machine arrays, base modules, or buildings aligned to chunk edges.

Click again to hide chunk boundaries.

Tutorial Button

The i button opens the tutorial for the current UI area.

Use it when you are unsure what a button or panel does. Tutorial popups render above the RTS interface and can be closed when you are ready to continue.

Settings Button

The gear button opens RTS control settings.

This includes RTS UI scale, camera feel, auto-store, Shift deposit, tool protection, and preview animation settings.

These settings affect your personal controls and visuals. Server rules, survival balancing, and material consumption are controlled separately by mod or server configuration.
